Pensacola resident Paul Hamlin, 57, endured serious injuries following a motorcycle incident along Avalon Boulevard on Sunday.
According to a press release from the Florida Highway Patrol, Hamlin’s motorcycle collided with the rear of a 1996 Oldsmobile Ciera driven by Grace Ann Gonzalez, 52, of Milton.
In the report’s narrative, the Oldsmobile was traveling north on Avalon Boulevard before pulling off on the paved shoulder at Tuscarora Trail. Hamlin’s motorcycle was also traveling north on Avalon approaching the Oldsmobile, according to FHP. As the motorcycle neared, Gonzalez started out on the Avalon Boulevard in an attempt to turn back southbound. As the Oldsmobile crossed into the northbound travel lane, the front of the motorcycle collided with the vehicle’s left rear.
According to the report, the collision caused Hamlin to go over the handle bars of his motorcycle, through the windshield and over the Oldsmobile before landing in the southbound right only turn lane to Nowling Drive.
While Hamlin was transported to West Florida Hospital in Pensacola for injuries, Gonzalez is facing charges of conducting a improper or unsafe u-turn.
