Free hunter safety Internet-completion courses offered in Escambia, Santa Rosa counties

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is offering free hunter safety Internet-completion courses in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties.

The Santa Rosa County course takes place at the Jay Community Center, 5259 Brooks Lane, Jay. Instruction is from 6 to 10 p.m. CST, Aug. 12.

The Escambia County course takes place at the Molino Community Center, 6450 Hwy. 95A, Molino. Instruction is from 6 to 10 p.m. CST, Aug. 13.

The range portion for both courses will be Aug. 29 from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. at the Santa Rosa Shooting Center, 6950 Quintette Rd., Pace.

Students must complete the Internet course before coming to class and bring a copy of the final report from the online portion of the course. The final report form does not have to be notarized.

An adult must accompany children under the age of 16 at all times. Students should bring a pencil and paper with them to take notes.

Anyone born on or after June 1, 1975, must pass an approved hunter safety course and have a hunting license to hunt alone (unsupervised). The FWC course satisfies hunter-safety training requirements for all other states and Canadian provinces.
