Dragonfly Artist of the Month Sue Dyess

Deanna Sue Hicks Dyess, a Santa Rosa County native, was born in Floridatown. She grew up listening to family stories about the area and so began her love of local history and the natural beauty of Santa Rosa County.  A self-taught artist, Sue readily admits her artwork is a combination of lots of prayer, a deep abiding faith in her Creator and a desire to share her love of the area. She enjoys rendering pen and ink drawings of local historical sites. A graduate of Milton High School, Class of 1966, Sue earned he BA and MA in Elementary Education from the University of West Florida with post graduate work at Georgia State University.  She was a teacher for 35 years with the Santa Rosa School System. Sue recently illustrated a children’s book, Nana Claus, by Author Farica West and is currently working on a second.
