County should have term limits for commissioners

Dear Editor,

The Santa Rosa County board of Commissioners brings up the reason for term limits. It seems every time the county is short of money the first word mentioned is taxes. I thank Jerry Couey, along with the article written by Aaron Little in Wednesday’s Press Gazette on July 15, 2015 about leasing county property. The property in question, located at 8831Whiting Field Circle, is just the tip of the good old boys club. A full investigation of this $10 per year rent could cause some people some embarrassing questions like why was this house along with the 6 acres bought by SRC for $300,000 plus and not the Navy? Who were the first tenants? Why is there a large amount of cars there continually for years as the use was for highly restricted use? Could the oversized hot tub in the house be one of the reasons? Remember the photos of high government official drinking wine and sitting in the hot tub? Term limits should be given to the BOCC because they seem to become friends with whomever has the money to get good deals and favors.
