A Navarre man was arrested Thursday in connection to an armed robbery which occurred August 7th of last year. Shawn P. Cannon, 29, was charged with public order crimes, commit 3rd degree felony wearing mask or hood; aggravated assault with deadly weapon; 3 counts of kidnapping; larceny grand theft of controlled substance; larceny, 1st degree property $100 to under $300; robbery with firearm; opium or derive-traffic. Reports said CVS located on Caroline Street in Milton was robbed by two suspects wearing ski masks, gloves and at least one suspect was wearing a plaid styled shirt. Reports said the suspects were armed with a silver revolver on video surveillance and bound several employees with electrical tape and zip ties during the robbery. Reports said one suspect was seen carrying a police radio or scanner type device and informed the staff during the robbery he had a police radio. Deputies report prescription narcotics from the pharmacy safe and U.S. currency were taken.
Reports said a number of armed robberies involving CVS pharmacies and convenience stores in Escambia County happened between the months of July 18 and August 7, 2014. The suspects were described similarly to the suspects in the CVS on Caroline Street. On April 19 of this year CVS on 9th Avenue was robbed with the same modus operandi used in the robbery in Milton.
Federal residential search warrants were carried out in April of this year, reports said, and numerous prescription bottles containing thousands of narcotic pills from CVS stores, firearms used in the robberies, clothing and other evidence was located at two addresses. In a post Miranda recorded interview, Cannon confessed to being the lookout for five armed robberies between the dates of July 18, 2014 and April 19, 2015.
