The Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a hunting incident in which one man was shot over the weekend.
According to a press release from the sheriff’s office, deputies responded to a shooting complaint on Saturday at 11 p.m. near the area of Green Road and Yearling Lane in Milton. Witnesses told deputies several individuals were deer hunting in the area when a confrontation occurred between a group of hunters and another individual.
At one point during the confrontation, a gun was pointed at the group of hunters when a shot was heard, the release stated. The individual who was pointing the gun at the group was shot with a high powered rifle during the incident. The victim was then transported to an area hospital via helicopter.
At the time of the press release, officials said the gunshot victim is recovering. Investigators have also identified the individual who shot the victim and questioned him about this incident.
No additional information on this active investigation was released on Monday morning. The sheriff’s office will release more information on this case as it becomes available.
