The local organization's facility was damaged by flooding in April of last year. A massive volunteer effort led by Home Depot revitalized the location on Spikes Way. In January, nearly 100 volunteers spent the day providing landscape work, restoring the main building and adding some upgrades including a fire pit and some new appliances.

In addition to showing the attendees the revamped facilities, the organization also explained what they are all about.

Members must be a veteran of any branch of the United States military during a time of war or conflict. On a monthly basis, Post #78 holds a meeting on the third Tuesday of every month at 7 p.m.

The organization is also involved with the community, including with JROTC programs in local schools, volunteering in area Special Olympics, offering scholarships to area students and much more.
