Gulf Islands National Seashore announces candlelight program at Fort Pickens

Gulf Islands National Seashore will present a Candlelight Program at Fort Pickens on Friday, July 17 at 7 p.m.  Join Youth Conservation Corps (YCC) staff and volunteers for a very special nighttime program at Fort Pickens.  Interpreters in living history attire will lead you on a unique experience to witness what life may have been like roaming the fort as a Civil War soldier.

Visitor should arrive no later than 8:30 p.m. in order to experience the fort prior to closing at 9 p.m.  Dress appropriately for the evening weather and wear comfortable walking shoes; program involves walking on uneven surfaces, sandy walkways, and steps. The fort will be candlelit but it is recommend to bring a flashlight.

Superintendent Brown encourages everyone to enjoy the national seashore and join us for our ranger-led programs.  For a complete program schedule and more information, call 934-2600, visit our website at www.nps.gov/guis, or follow us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/NPSGulfIslands.
