Sheriff’s Office: Two stolen vehicles reported in Navarre

Deputies with the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office are looking for assistance in locating two vehicles which were reported stolen in Navarre last night. One of the vehicles contained a firearm, a sheriff’s office press release said.

Between 11 p.m. and 2 a.m., deputies responded two separate calls of vehicle thefts. The first taking place on Nautilus Drive and the second taking place on Mooring Drive.

In the Mooring Drive incident, the owner of a black Ford F-150 4D, reported their vehicle was stolen around the early morning hours of Monday. In the offense report, the owner reported the truck was unlocked at the time and keys were located inside the vehicle on the floorboard.

In addition to cell phone and a wallet containing $3,000 in currency, driver’s license and a credit card, the owner also told a deputy the truck had a semi-automatic pistol inside, the report said.  The same vehicle owner reported a second vehicle on the property had been broken into, like the truck this vehicle was also unlocked. However, nothing from inside the vehicle was disturbed, the report said.

Another vehicle on the same street, which was also unlocked had also apparently been burglarized. The report said the vehicle’s interior had been gone through, due to the vehicle’s glove box being open. However the owner did not wish to participate in the investigation after learning nothing had been stolen from their vehicle.

On Nautilus Drive, the owner of a 2007 Honda Odyssey reported their vehicle had been stolen from their garage, the sheriff’s report said. While inside the garage the vehicle had been unlocked while containing a purse containing the keys. Other items included inside the purse included personal identification, a debit and credit card, checkbook and high-priced two tennis racquets.

In the offense report, the victim told deputies it was the continuous bark of their dogs which led to the discovery on the stolen vehicle.  No witnesses reported seeing the incident occur or seeing any suspicious activity in the neighborhood. The responding deputy reported checking other vehicles in the same area, however none of the vehicles appeared to be damaged in an attempted theft.

Deputies are asking if any residents in the area with a home surveillance system which may have caught any suspicious activity between the hours of both  vehicle thefts are asked to contact the Santa Rosa County Crime Stoppers at 437-STOP immediately.

In the press release, the sheriff’s office reminds residents to lock their vehicles while removing any valuables from inside.
