Fire Chief John Reble, City of Milton said enjoying the fireworks show at Milton Riverwalk at sunset is safer than shooting fireworks in the yard at home.

Santa RosaCounty

The following offices and departments are closed Friday, July 3, in observance of Independence Day.  Regular hours of operation resume Monday.

•      Santa Rosa County Board of Commissioners with the following exceptions:

o   The Santa Rosa Library System and Animal Shelter are also closed Saturday

o   The Central Landfill is open Friday, July 3 and Saturday, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

•      Santa Rosa County Clerk of the Court

•      Santa Rosa County Property Appraiser

•      Santa Rosa County Supervisor of Elections

•      Santa Rosa County Tax Collector

City of Milton

City Hall will be closed on Friday and Saturday. Sanitation will run a day ahead. Those with Monday and Thursday pickup will have Monday and Wednesday. Those with Tuesday and Friday pick up will have Tuesday and Thursday pickup.

Milton libraries will be closed on Friday and Saturday in observance of Independence Day and will resume normal business hours on Monday.

Milton:

·         Railroad Bridge will be operating under extended hours (until 10 p.m.)

·         A no wake zone is in effect the entire day from the north side of Russell Harbor Landing to the Railroad Bridge

·         Bring blankets, lawn chairs, family, and friends and join the city in a celebration of the nation’s independence

Where: over the Blackwater River

Notes: railroad bridge will be operating under extended hours (until 10 p.m.), no wake zone in effect

14th Annual Firecracker Motorcycle Show

When: 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., 1 p.m. awards presentation at South Pavilion

Where: South Willing Street

Notes: Registration $10 day of show, 18 categories to be awarded.

Freedom Car Show

Where: Elmira Street

When: 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., 2 p.m. award presentation at Blackwater Bistro

 Notes: Free Registration

Treasure Island Children’s Activity Area

Where: North Gazebo

When: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Notes: adult-chaperoned, fun-filled activities for children of all ages.

The Great Mill Town Duck Race

Where: Ducks will be dropped from the Highway 90 bridge

When: 5 p.m.

Notes: 1st Place $1500 2nd Place $ 750 3rd Place $ 250

Where: visible from both the beach and the sound side east and west of the Navarre Beach Causeway Bridge

Notes: Fireworks will launch from Navarre Beach Marine Park after sunset and will be visible from both the beach and the sound side east and west of the Navarre Beach Causeway bridge.

Notes: Hosted by Town of Jay, admission and parking are free

Softball Tournament

When: 8 a.m.

Where: Jay City Park

16th Annual 5k Run & One Mile Run

Where: Jay City Park (Bray-Hendricks Park) 5259 Booker Lane
