Pace motorist cited for ‘careless driving’ after hitting church building

A Pace teenager had no injuries after his vehicle reportedly struck the New Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church near Chumuckla Highway in Pace on Tuesday.

 Thomas Jason Andrew II, 19, of Pace was cited for careless driving after colliding with a church building near Chumuckla Highway on Tuesday night, according to a press release from the Florida Highway Patrol.

In the report, Andrew was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado north on Chumuckla at an excessive speed, the report said. The vehicle collided with the New Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church striking the building on north and east side.  Andrew reportedly suffered no injuries in the collision. The vehicle has an estimated damage of $8,000.

 The estimated cost to the building’s damage is not known at this moment. A representative from the church was unable to contacted for comment.
