Don’t lose sight of what a family town should be

Dear Editor,

The first time I remember anything about the town of Milton was 1933 and I was four years old. My mother and father lived in Crestview and they were getting a divorce. My mother brought me to live with my grandmother who lived on Alabama Street. As we crossed the old steel bridge into Milton the very best feeling of security came on me and has stayed with me all of my life. I might add that every time I cross the Blackwater Bridge I have that same feeling. The population of Milton was about 1,500 at that time and Milton was a town and not a city. The reason for the letter today is that I’m saddened by some of the things I see taking place in our town and all around us. Some of these thing like liquor stores are bad news. I will say thank you to the Milton City Council for all of the street and other improvements in town. Please do not lose sight of what a family town should be. I love this town.
