Don’t be afraid of Jesus’ name

Dear Editor,

On two disgusting happenings. The racist song by SAE fraternity students at Oklahoma University was disgraceful. God bless their president, reiterating the zero tolerance policy. He shut down that frat house immediately. He ordered the residents to get out, and 24 hours to do it in. God bless Isaac Hill, too. When interviewed as president of a black group on campus, he, with a sweet spirit, responded with forgiveness, not ugly retaliation like the Ferguson, Mo. Incident. His Biblical name radiated a God-honoring attitude toward the perpetrators. What a blessing. Another U.S. Navy Chaplin, Wes Modder, is crucified for his Christian faith, also disgraceful. Modder, recipient of numerous awards, accolades for his service, faces dismissal from the Navy just six months before retirement. In counseling he always advised clients of his honor bound calling to counsel as an Assembly of God minister. Some clients took offense, complained, hence the impending action against him by the Navy. Shame on this anti-Christ attempt. My father, a naturalized citizen, served in the Navy, (World War I). Our U. S. military has always been near and dear to our hearts. Thank God Modder knows it’s better to obey God than man. I’m reminded of another Navy chaplain dismissed for praying in Jesus’ name. God’s sense of humor blesses me. He gave Klingenschmidt a Christian television program, PIJN, praying in the name of Jesus.

A former local pastor years ago opened in prayer at the Tallahassee Legislature attended by my WRL pro-gamily group. When I asked him why he didn’t close in Jesus’ name, he said, “We’re not allowed to.” Shame on so-called ‘born again’ believers ashamed to pray in His name. Of course, we must pray for Modder, but for God’s sake, people, don’t be ashamed of Jesus and His words, life and health to our bones. If we are, He’ll be ashamed of us before His Father in heaven. Rise up, O men (and women) of God. Christ might return at any moment. God bless us all as only He can. Maranatha.
