The City of Milton Parks and Recreation Department wants to do its part in helping eliminate calendar conflicts between various organizations while also promoting events in and around Milton.
The city is hosting a meeting on tonight, February 26 at 6 p.m. in the Imogene Theater and inviting civic organizations around the Milton area.
“We are urging all civic organizations to come and participate in this community event,” said Milton Parks and Recreation Director John Norton. “Milton continues to grow and there are more and more events in and around the Milton area. This event is to help all groups and organizations get on a calendar where we can help one another avoid conflicts and work together in bringing events to downtown Milton and the immediate areas.”
The City of Milton recently launched its new website, www.ci.milton.fl.us, and features an event calendar, meeting calendar, as well as news items on its mail home page.
Norton hopes this meeting brings about an area wide effort within the community of cooperation and event planning so each and every event has the opportunity to achieve the greatest amount of success.
“We hope this will create more complimenting events instead of some of the competition we have had among events in the past,” Norton said. “It is our hope that organizations in the Milton area look to hold an event can check to see if that weekend date is open.”
During the meeting, members of the Milton Parks and Recreation Department will be on hand to show those attending what can be accomplished with this new website and how it would work.
