Milton resident killed, child critically-injured in I-10 traffic incident

Wendy Fisk, 44, of Milton was killed, while six-year-old Brenden Fisk was critically-injured on Sunday afternoon following a traffic incident on Interstate 10.

According to a press release from the Florida Highway Patrol, the incident occurred when their vehicle was traveling west bound in the outside lane on State Road 8 (I-10) near mile marker 16. The vehicle then drifted onto the paved shoulder. According to the narrative in the press release, the vehicle then over steered to the left, and prior to crossing the center line of the roadway, the vehicle then over steered to the right.

“Subsequently, (the vehicle) rotated in a clockwise manner, traveled onto the westbound paved shoulder, and the left side of (the vehicle) struck a guardrail face,” the report said.

The report says the vehicle then went through the guardrail and began to overturn. The vehicle then came to a final resting place on its right side, facing northeast on the north shoulder of State Road 8.

The child was transported to Sacred Heart Hospital following the incident.

The FHP report states both individuals were wearing seatbelts at the time of the incident.
