The Sid and Jeannie Kamerman Piano Series at Pensacola State College presents classical pianist Faina Lushtak at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 25, in the Ashmore Fine Arts Auditorium, Building 8, on the Pensacola campus, 1000 College Blvd.
The lyricism and romanticism of Faina Lushtak's virtuoso piano performances have inspired audiences throughout her native Russia as well as those in Western Europe, Canada and the United States. Her colorful style has brought recognition both as a solo recitalist at the Lincoln Center and guest artist with numerous symphony orchestras across the country.
As a composer, Lushtak has written works for chamber groups, voice and violin as well as her first love, the piano. She also is a dedicated teacher, highly regarded for her master classes presented in the United States, Canada and Europe.
Currently, Lushtak is a music professor at the Newcomb Music Department of Tulane University, where she heads the piano division, holds the Downman Chair, and is the music director of Tulane's Concert Piano Series and Tulane Piano Trio. She also is on the faculty of the Schlern International Music Festival in Italy.
Lushtak earned degrees in piano performance and composition from the Moscow Tchaikowsky Conservatory. She later served on the faculty of the Moscow Conservatory until emigrating to the United States. In its second year, the Kamerman Piano Series was established to provide greater community access to concerts by international, critically acclaimed classical pianists.
Ticket prices are $11 for reserved admission; $9 for seniors 60+, children and non-PSC students; $7 for PSC Seniors Club, PSC staff, faculty, retirees; Free for PSC students with current college ID.
