Farm Share and Representative Mike Hill host free food distribution for local area families

Farm Share is partnering with Representative Mike Hill to sponsor a free food distribution on Friday, January 30th, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Brownsville Assembly of God, located at 3100 West De Soto Street, Pensacola, FL 32505.

Families in need of nutritious food will be provided Farm Share food bags free of charge. Each household will receive a variety of fresh produce that is in season, along with other nutritious food.

Last year alone, Farm Share distributed more than 23.4 million pounds of food to hungry families, children, seniors and veterans, serving more than one million Florida households. Farm Share is the largest fresh produce program in Florida and the only statewide and local food bank program that does not charge a fee for any food it provides to community organizations.

Rep. Hill said, “In the last year, we were able to partner with Farm Share to bring 8 food distributions free of charge to those in need in the Panhandle area. Prior to 2013, our community had never participated in Farm Share and the great work they do for Floridians. It is my pleasure to announce that this event is just the kick off to our 2015 Farm Share list. We already have 3 additional distributions on the calendar for our community throughout the year in various locations.”
