Milton Fire Chief speaks at Sunrise Kiwanis

Fire Chief John Reble speaks to Sunrise Kiwanis

Fire Chief John Reble (left) is shown receiving the Milton Pride tag holder from Santa Rosa Sunrise Kiwanis President John Stone.  Chief Reble gave club members a fire department update and some history on the Milton Fire Department which last year celebrated its 100th Birthday.  He spoke about Milton's three large fires that burned Milton before having a fully functioning fire department.  Their first fire truck was purchased in 1914.  The three large fires which destroyed most of Milton were in 1885, 1892, and 1909 at which time the city decided it was prudent to install a water system and fire hydrants. Reble said in 1910 the system was completed.  The fire department operates with a two tiered service, combined with the EMS and relayed eighty five percent of their calls are rescue related.  Santa Rosa Sunrise Kiwanis welcomes all to their Wednesday 7 a.m. breakfast meetings at Tanglewood Golf Course where all are welcome.
