Speak Out for January 14

Thursday 11:32 a.m.

This is Kathy and I am reading in the Pensacola paper that Santa Rosa County is attracting new businesses who want to invest and here we shut down the trash hauling companies and we have made an monopoly with the people not having any choice. Does that tell us what they want to do with the courthouse and not give the people a choice. Making only one trash pickup, that the people did not chose can’t chose. I think that is called an monopoly and it was done without asking the people and the commissioners are supposed to be representing the people. I don’t think they are and they need to be ousted. Thank you

Hello, I would like to ask if anybody else has noticed the large amount of roadside trash that has accumulated in Milton recently. If not, next time you travel along some of the highways take a moment and look along the side of the roadway. I don’t ever remember it being this bad. I live on a highway, halfway between Milton and Pace, and for 25 years I would have to take a few minutes every weekend I would go out and pick up the liter that accumulates along the front of my house. If everyone who lives or has a place of business along a roadway would take a few minutes every once in a while and clean up in front of their house or business, it would really make a big difference. What about getting our prisoners or the working crews to help us in keeping our clean too? It would be a way for them to help pay the community back for their crimes. I know it would be wonderful if people would stop littering, but until they learn it’s not hard to hang on to their trash until they get home and toss it into a garbage can. I guess we have no choice but to clean up after them. Thank you.

Saturday 4:42 p.m.

Our garbage cans in East Milton, out here by North Airport were picked up in the later part of December and we still do not have garbage cans in this little subdivision out here and nobody in this little area whatsoever has garbage cans. They can’t expect us to put the bags out front, because dogs, cats and everything else will get into it. If the cats were to construe with it all over the road, the guys will not pick it up. So as far as I am seeing on TV and in the paper that if you live in North Santa Rosa County, you should have your garbage cans by so and so. They have been saying that we should have had them by last week, we still don’t have them. So this ECUA company is full of crap.

Saturday 9:25 a.m.

This is Bobby, People keep saying that we are only going to pay $51 dollars for garbage service with the ECUA. Well as far as I know nobody has got a bill yet, but I guarantee ya it won’t be that by the time they add taxes and fees and this and that. It will probably be at least $70. I would just be interested in finding out. Thank you.
