Gulf Breeze resident Beau Latt Imbodem, 34, is facing charges of driving under the influence, reckless driving, resisting an officer with violence, battery on a law enforcement officer and fleeing and eluding law enforcement, following an altercation with a sheriff’s deputy on Monday evening.
According to a press release from the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office, Imboden was spotted driving a vehicle at a high rate of speed by a sheriff’s deputy on U.S. 98 in Gulf Breeze. Imboden’s vehicle was not displaying headlights at the time of the incident.
While attempting to conduct a traffic stop, the deputy stated Imboden nearly crashed at the intersection of Hwy. 98 and Ambassador Drive. According to the press release, the deputy believed Imboden to be driving impaired due to his erratic driving pattern. Imboden then crashed his vehicle into a nearby wooded lot, shortly after the deputy initiated vehicle pursuit.
After his vehicle had stopped, Imboden exited his vehicle and approached the deputy, according to the press release. The deputy then told Imboden to stop and get on the ground. The suspect refused to comply and “stood in an aggressive posture towards the deputy,” the report said.
According to the press release, Imboden then struck the deputy in the head as the deputy attempted to arrest the suspect. Both individuals then fell to the ground in a struggle, in which the deputy lost his radio and was unable communicate with dispatch. After several minutes, a second deputy arrived on scene and Imboden was secured and placed inside a patrol vehicle.
Imboden remains at the Santa Rosa County Jail with no bond.
