Pace resident Jeremy Borth, 33, remains in custody at the Santa Rosa County Jail in reference to vehicle burglaries, one of which involved an altercation involving a knife.
Borth is currently facing a felony charge of aggravated battery, two felony charges of burglary and a misdemeanor charge of larceny after being arrested on Sunday, according to an arrest report from the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office.
In the report, deputies responded to a burglary call, involving a cutting incident, at Del Prado Circle, in which a black and silver fixed blade knife was recovered. The knife was used an altercation, the report said.
Rich Aloy, public information officer for the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office said the incident began when a resident heard a commotion outside his residence. The resident discovered his vehicle was being burglarized at the time. Aloy said the resident confronted the suspect who was still inside his vehicle. Unknown to the resident, the suspect had a knife at the time. Aloy said the two men then “began to struggle.”
In the altercation the resident was cut by the knife, reports said. However, the resident was able to take the knife away from the suspect, who then fled on foot.
Reports said deputies began to canvass the area for the suspect also using the K-9 unit in the search. Deputies then discovered Borth’s two front teeth in the victim’s vehicle “which apparently were knocked out by the victim during the physical altercation,” Aloy said.
Later on the same day, a deputy responded to a vehicle burglary at Del Almirante Circle, according to the arrest report. A resident reported his unlocked vehicle had been burglarized and several items, including the black and silver knife, was missing. The knife was later positively identified by the owner.
Deputies later identified Borth as the suspect and located him at his residence. In addition to the bruising from the altercation, deputies said Borth was missing teeth.
The male involved in the altercation also positively identified Borth from the earlier incident on Del Prado Circle, the report said.
Aloy said Borth is currently being investigated in connection to other vehicle burglaries.
Borth is being held with a $225,500 bond.
