Jerry Ricks, 43, of Milton is facing felony charges of aggravated battery, obstructing justice and a misdemeanor charge of criminal mischief following his arrest earlier this week.
On Tuesday, Milton Police Department (MPD) responded to a ongoing physical altercation between a male and female between Byrom Street and Dearborn Street, according to the report.
According to MPD, Ricks ran after being spotted by a police officer on Peachtree Street. The officer got his patrol vehicle in front of Ricks and exited the vehicle in order to speak with him, the report said.
At first Ricks had his “fists clinched” and was “storming towards” the officer, according to the report. Ricks then turned and began running east down Plymouth Street. After being stopped along the roadway, Ricks “started stomping towards (the officer) punching his hands,” the report said.
Reports said the officer then pulled out his taser telling Ricks to stop what he was doing on multiple occasions. Ricks finally complied after the officer armed the tasering device and pointed at Ricks. After another officer arrived on scene, Ricks was then apprehended.
Ricks was charged with aggravated assault after apparently hitting his wife in their vehicle on their way to their way home, according to testimony in the report. Officers reportedly observed injuries on his wife face. His wife reportedly tried to contact 911 upon arriving at their home, when Ricks kept the phone away from her, the report stated.
While in route to their home, Ricks also apparently damaged their vehicle, which was a rental, according to the arrest report.
Other witness accounts in the report say Ricks struck his wife several times at their home and made threats towards other residents at the home. While the other residents tried to get inside a car and leave the home, Ricks showed violent tendencies while yelling at them, punching the vehicle and blocking it from leaving. Reports said Ricks left the scene on foot after a resident told him the authorities had been called.
After being apprehended, officers said Ricks made multiple death threats towards his wife. Ricks remains at the Santa Rosa County Jail with a $16,500 bond.
