Jay resident dies in early morning traffic incident

Grady Glover, 53, of Jay died following a traffic incident earlier this morning. According to a press release from the Florida Highway Patrol, Glover’s vehicle was struck by another vehicle near the intersection of County Road 178 and State Road 89, near Jay.

Pace resident Joseph Lane, 29, endured serious injuries after his vehicle failed to yield the right-of-way when approaching the intersection from west CR 178.  FHP states Glover’s vehicle had stopped at a stop sign located at the intersection after approaching from south SR 89.

According to the FHP, Lane’s vehicle drove on the intersection and into the path of Glover’s vehicle. As a result the front of Glover’s vehicle collided with the right side of Lane’s vehicle.

In the impact, Glover’s vehicle came to a final resting place on CR 178 on the south shoulder facing an easterly direction, while Lane’s vehicle collided with a guardrail then “overturned and came to a final rest on a concrete culvert facing an easterly direction,” the release stated.

Charges are pending in the investigation, the FHP press release stated.
