Pensacola Christian College hosted their Eagles Classic Invitational on
Thursday and Friday. Participants included Ocala Christian (Ocala, FL), Bible Baptist (Hampton, GA), Victory Christian (GA), Calvary Christian (NC), Bruswick Christian (GA), Victory Christian (Orlando, FL), Victory Christian (Jacksonville, FL) and West Florida Baptist Academy (WFBA).
The Lady Conquerors of West Florida defeated Ocala Christian 38 to 19 in round 1. Ashtyn Kaunitz led WFBA scoring with 12 points.
In second round action, WFBA's defense stifled Bible Baptist 43 to 7. The Conquerors compiled a team total 35 rebounds, 13 steals and 1 block.
Havii Berry led the scoring with 14 points, 86 percent shooting.
The championship game featured the Lady Eagles of Victory Christian (Orlando), with their tournament MVP Aniya Ross, against the Lady Conquerors.
Both offenses struggled early but the Lady Conqueror's defense, led by Kristen Glass's 4 steals, kick started a barrage of scoring giving the Lady Conquerors a 15 to 5 first quarter advantage. The second quarter was all Lady Conquerors, holding the Lady Eagles scoreless and adding 19 points to their lead. Trailing 34 to 5 at the half, the Lady Eagles came alive in the third quarter outscoring the Lady Conquerors 14 to 4. The fourth quarter produced the most offense with 16 points for WFBA and 12 for Victory, ending 54 to 31, Lady Conquerors. WFBA had three players in double digit scoring: Esther Burdick with 27 points, Havii Berry with 12 points and Ashtyn Kaunitz with 10 points, 8 assists.
West Florida's Havii Berry earned an All Tournament team medal and she also won the 3-point shooting competition.
