The Milton Garden Club is hosting its annual Christmas Tour of Homes Saturday and Sunday, December 6 and 7, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. according to Jennifer Harvey, Garden Club member. Though visitors can start at any home on the tour, she said, the official start is at the Garden Club building at 5256 Alabama Street.
The front walk will be decorated like the board game Candyland, according to Harvey, while the inside will have a living room vignette with a tall Christmas tree decorated by club members. She said the walkway décor comes from Lisa Mckenzie of Mckenzie GMC and table decorations from the Tompkins-Smith house, known as Simply Southern. St. Mary’s Church will be open to the public during the tour, according to Harvey. The Garden Club aims to have a church on the tour every year, according to Harvey. There will also be four houses: Simply Southern, the Horton Builders’ home in the Cottonwood neighborhood, the Dykes house also in Cottonwood, and an Adams home on Whisper Creek Boulevard.
According to Harvey, tickets are $10 and may be purchased at the Garden Club or any of the homes on event day. Before the event, Simply Southern and Garden Club members will have them for sale. Harvey said the club’s Morning Glory Circle will be selling poinsettias and baked goods, but refreshments will be free.
The Milton Garden Club thanks its sponsors, Milton Chevrolet, Mckenzie GMC, Wal-Mart, Avalon Dental, the Canasta Kittens, and the Beloved Bookies. Without them, Harvey said, the tour would not be possible.
