The first meeting for the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office Explorer Program is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 18.
The meeting will take place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the training room of the Sheriff’s Office Administration Building at 5755 East Milton Road.
The Explorer Program is open to young men and women ages 14 to 20. Each participant must have completed the 8th grade and be under the age of 21. Parents are welcome to attend each meeting.
The program is for young adults interested in learning more about the careers available in law enforcement.
“The primary goals of the program are to help young adults choose a career path within law enforcement and to challenge them to become responsible citizens of their communities and the nation,” a press release from the sheriff’s office stated.
The Explorer program will provide educational training programs for the young adults on the purpose, mission and objectives of law enforcement, the press release stated.
In addition, the program will provide career oriented experiences, leadership opportunities and community service activities.
