Brett Richard Yeiter, 46, of Jay was apprehended by Texas authorities last week on a homicide warrant.
Yeiter is currently being held by the Escambia County, Ala. Sheriff’s Office for homicide.
Yeiter is charged for the murder of his father-in-law, Paul Phillips.
According to another news source, Phillips, 69, served as pastor of Book of Acts Holiness Church located on Jimmy Sellers Road, near Munson.
NorthEscambia.com states authorities believe Yeiter shot Phillips in an ongoing domestic dispute. Phillips succumbed to the fatal gun shots, shortly after being located by responding officers.
Yeiter reportedly left the scene and was later apprehended by Texas authorities near Amarillo in Carson County, Texas.
In a press release from the Texas Department of Public Safety, Yeiter was driving a 1995 Ford F-150 along Interstate 40 on Oct.30. After receiving the information from the Amarillo DPS Communications that Yeiter was wanted with a homicide warrant, he was pulled over in a traffic stop and arrested.
Yeiter was detained by authorities and booked into the Carson County Jail. He was later extradited to Alabama to face charges.
