County seeks input in creating southern bicycle and pedestrian plan

Santa Rosa County is asking residents to participate in creating a bicycle pedestrian master plan for south Santa Rosa. Working together, staff and citizens will develop a plan for safe transportation alternatives with the goal of making south Santa Rosa more bicycle and pedestrian friendly as an alternative to travel on U.S. Highway 98. Once complete, the plan will help guide future projects with an emphasis on increasing the overall quality of life for residents by focusing on improving safety, recreational and tourism opportunities in the south end.

Residents can participate by attending meetings, joining a focus group or completing a survey.  The first opportunity for input includes attending one or more public focus group meetings in November:

•           Noon, Wednesday, Nov. 12 in Classroom B of the Andrews Research and Education Institute, 1020 Gulf Breeze Pkwy., Gulf Breeze

•           10 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 13 at the Navarre Visitor Information Center, 8543 Navarre Pkwy., Navarre

•           6 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 18 at the Tiger Point Community Center,  1370 Tiger Park Ln., Gulf Breeze

The master planning process will be completed by mid-May and includes collecting resident input, analyzing existing facilities, researching potential connections developing a bicycle loop and/or a pedestrian grid, and identifying potential funding sources.  More information on the plan, meetings and how to participate visit www.ssrbpp.org, like us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/ssrbpp or contact Kristen A.
