Ensign James Robinson, a year into his naval commission, participated in the Naval Helicopter Association (NHA) Fleet Fly-In held Wednesday and Thursday at NAS Whiting Field. Robinson said of the available helicopters, he’s interested in flying the SH-60 Romeo because of its versatility. He said it can handle humanitarian aid work like search and rescue or combat support like piracy and anti-drug missions. With only one previous session behind a SH-60 stick, Robinson said the Fly-In gave him another chance to get a feel for the desired helicopter. With the condition of the world today, Robinson said he expects to be in danger. Everyone knows the potential, he said, to be in dangerous situations. According to NAS Whiting Field Public Affairs Officer, Jay Cope, the true value of the Fleet Fly-In is the impact it makes on the flight students as they prepare to made career decisions on the aircraft they would like to fly, geographic locations, and mission requirements.
