Motorist seriously injured in forklift crash on I-10

Florida Highway Patrol reports a forklift on I-10 was in a serious crash on Blackwater River Bridge Monday at 9:23 p.m. Reports said Rickey Tarrell Hawkins, Jr., 22, Panama City was driving a forklift within the closed right lane and was attempting to make a u-turn traveling from the right lane into the left. While Hawkins was trying to complete the turn, reports said two other vehicles were traveling in the left lane and into Hawkins’ path. Maryjane N. Randels, 48, Navarre hit the right rear portion of the forklift. Subsequently, John Williams Jr., 43, Houston, TX was following behind Randels and was unable to stop, and struck the right front of Randel’s vehicle and the right rear of the forklift. Both Randels and Williams received serious injuries and were taken to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola. Hawkins was not injured and was charged with improper u-turn.
