Two are dead in the small north Santa Rosa County community of Jay, following what authorities believe may be a murder-suicide.
Misty Wright Herring, a 43-year-old mother of two, was found dead inside her home on Nowling Road, along with 43-year-old Max Bruce Herring.
The incident appears to be “domestic related,” according to a news release from the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were called to the home just before 6 a.m. Thursday morning for a reported shooting. The call came in through 911, according to Lt. Leland Butcher with the Sheriff’s Office.
Both victims were found dead of gunshot wounds, he said.
Detectives from the Santa Rosa County Major Crimes Unit are investigating and were at the Medical Examiner’s office late Thursday afternoon, Butcher said.
The house belongs to Misty Herring, according to the Santa Rosa County Property Appraiser’s website. She was a pharmacist at Dura-Med Pharmacy & Soda Shoppe in Jay.
Herring’s two children are “safe and with family members,” according to Butcher.
