
4 p.m. update:
Santa Rosa Press Gazette Contract Writer Becky Bondurant confirms Misty Wright Herring was a pharmacist at Dura-Med Pharmacy and Soda Shop. Bondurant said Misty's friends were all very saddened by the early Thursday morning news and with everyone in Jay knowing each other, it's hard news to hear. Santa Rosa County Clerk's Office reports a pending divorce between Max and Misty. Misty's two sons were from her marriage to Stanley Scott Blackmon. Santa Rosa Property Appraiser's Office reports the residence belonging to Misty after her first divorce from Blackmon.
1 p.m. update:
Santa Rosa Sheriff's Office released the names of the deceased in the murder-suicide at the 3700 block of Nowling Road, Jay. Misty Wright Herring, 43 and Max Bruce Herring, 43 were found dead of a gun shot. Lt. Leeland Butcher, SRSO, said the two children are with family. The incident is still under investigation at this time.
Update at 11:17 a.m.
According to Santa Rosa Sheriff's Office a dispatch call arrived at 5:56 a.m. in regards to a shooting at the 3700 block Nowling Road in Jay. Reports said two individuals were found deceased and it is believed to be a domestic related. Authorities also said Jay School was temporarily shut down in regards to the murder-suicide incident. More information should be released around 3 p.m.
