Highway 90 project could limit business district

Dear Editor,

Has Hwy. 90 turned into a mission to the moon? Between people trying to make money off the project, to encroaching on downtown businesses with the project, you want to complicate the issue beyond belief. There are only two options to achieve moving more traffic through downtown Milton without destroying the businesses thereof. 1). Cramming three lanes through downtown with two heading east and the two incoming from the east with one going through downtown and the other with a new bridge headed up Berryhill St. I wrote about this issue 6 months ago while complaining about the new bridge under construction accommodating only two lanes from the photos I have seen. 2). Make the downtown two lanes one way from Burger King to the east through downtown, and build a new bridge connecting the two west lanes to Berryhill St. This would make the street two lanes one way to Stewart St. I thought the first option was the best option 6 months ago, but clearly the second option is by far the better idea with the least amount of cost to the taxpayer and impact to downtown businesses including not disrupting downtown traffic with a 2 or 3 year project. We all know a project of that extent would leave no businesses left downtown. It's not rocket science.
