Speak Out September 13

Monday 10:12 a.m.

Good morning. This is Ellen. I am very disappointed with the 14% voter turnout in Santa Rosa County for the election. It seems people don’t care who our leaders are and we ended up with two corrupt county commissioners and the Milton mayor who has done so much for this city didn’t get reelected. That is my opinion. Thank you very much.

Monday 3:51 p.m.

This is Mary, a concerned senior citizen. I am just wondering why CVS quit selling tobacco products and not quit selling liquor. Tobacco causes cancer in the lips, tongue, and lungs and so forth. Liquor causes cancer in the pancreas, the liver, the stomach. It also messes up the brain. It causes wrecks. It causes murders. It causes breakups of families. I wonder why the decided tobacco is worse. Something to think about.

Wednesday, 10:27 a.m.

Yeah, this is Dale from Mulat. I know we don’t have much of a choice for governor and I wouldn’t know who to vote for but I cannot honestly say the one we’ve got in there now has truly ruined our lottery system. Thank you. Have a good day.

Wednesday 12:43 p.m.

I am the proud grandmother of a Pace High School student who plays on the football team. I got to go to his football game two weeks ago and rooted very loudly. I found the people on the other side of the field, the guests were playing cheered rooted their team on with vim and vigor. I was so disappointed in Pace High parents. There were only 3 of us rooting our heads off, encouraging our young men who were there to perform to their highest. Other parents sat there, talked about their kids, read books. It was just disgusting. If you’re going to let your kid play football, root him on, win or lose.

Wednesday 4:53 p.m.

Yeah, this is Bobby. I see I got a rise out of Ellen about the litter. Well, she’s got it all wrong. I don’t like litter. I don’t throw anything out, but I don’t want to throw money at everything, tack on the tax. She says $150 a year will take care of it. Well, you got $150 for that, then you have to put more in to build the courthouse, and put more in to build a road and a bridge, this and that. That’s the way a lot of people think, throw more money at it. Well, I have been up north lots of times. I have lived up there and it’s just as trashy as it is here. I’ve been through parts of Boston and Philadelphia where there were actually old cars rolled over on their sides on the sides of the streets. They don’t even try to get them back. They drive them in there, steal the stuff off them, and leave them. It’s just as bad as it is here. It just seems like when somebody comes to a new area, they come because they like it but then soon as they get here they want to change everything and don’t like the way it is. Thank you.

Wednesday 5:26 p.m.

Yeah this is Bobby. I was reading Aaron Little’s column about skilled trade jobs. Everything he says is true. However, when you go try to go to school to learn these trades you can’t hardly get it. You got to Pensacola State College and they may have a course but they don’t have it unless they have enough students, or it’ll be full, or you can’t get in it, or even in Locklin, they’ll have an air conditioning course or something and you try to get in. They’ll say the class is full. They need more schools like that.

Wednesday 6:25 p.m.

Yes, this is in reference to the accident caused by a black four-door vehicle and a maroon vehicle. The man that caused the accident got out of his truck, his vehicle, and never walked across the highway to see about the young woman that he pulled out in front of. He could have waited three more seconds, or even two and no accident would have happened. He was very impatient and he’s a jerk for not going over and checking on the other driver. Thank you.

Wednesday 7:22 p.m.

Well this is Jesse from Pace. Did y’all see on the news today where 5 more children got killed, at the hands of their father, probably? Just murdered, thrown outside the road. Its’ going to keep going, people, until something is done about it. They’re letting them by with it. They plead insanity and the judge sends them to the nut house for a few months. They come back and they ain’t fit to stand trial. What they need to do is build a gallows in every city in front of the courthouse. How long are we going to let our kids be raped, murdered, beat, destroyed, drowned, thrown away? The sense of sick people is the devil in them. The only way to get the devil out is to put a rope around its neck to choke it out. Then you’ll stop a lot of this crap from going on. Thank you.

Wednesday 8:05 p.m.

This is John in East Milton. Got a question. Brad Baker, you don’t update the odyssey website anymore? I mean 2012 was the last one, 2013 should have already been done. I understand Pace is trying to get a district. Shouldn’t we find out how their spending their money on the other? Come on. Put it in there. Thank you.
