State's longest flea market set for U.S. 90

The state's longest flea market, Flea across Florida, will be held Sept.12 and 13. The 272-mile route traverses cities and scenic communities across the Panhandle, from Live Oak to Pensacola. Many participating venues are planned along the U.S. 90 corridor from Milton to Pace.

"Flea across Florida continues to experience growth, said Kim Macarthy, owner of Copper ‘Possum Antique Mall in Milton. Macarthy, who has participated in the biannual event for years, says it’s a great economic boost to communities along the historic U.S. 90 route, which is called the Old Spanish Trail.

Macarthy says the events takes place each spring and fall and attracts treasure hunters who begin shopping as early as sunrise and often keep at it until sunset each day. She says organizers are seeking individuals, church groups, civic groups and businesses to participate by selling items ranging from garage-sale goods to retail inventory or arts and crafts.

To participate, visit www.TheFleaAcrossFlorida.com to find a desired location for setup or planning your shopping route. For more local information contact Macarthy at 554-3906.
