“I am so excited about the girls,” said Coach Chelsey Adams. Adams, who is entering her third as the varsity girl’s volleyball coach for Milton High, has high expectations for her team.
“We are very young; this team of girls has positive attitudes and hit the floor ready to play,” Adams continued. Adams only had three returning players from the last season squad due to graduation.
Adamscouldn’t be more proud and honored to lead the Panthers. “I see improvement everyday,” she added.
August 19 and 20, the Lady Panthers hosted a preseason classic for five other area teams. Pensacola High, Pine Forest, Navarre and Crestview all matched up along with home team Milton to see where they stood against their district rivals before the actual start of the season. “We lost to Pine Forest, but we went three matches,” shared Adams. “I was very pleased with what I saw this week.”
This summer the Lady Panthers set goals for their team. They attended volleyball camp, scrimmaged against area teams and participated in a camp under the guidance of Pensacola State College’s volleyball coach. “They were ready to get volleyball going,” Adams remarked.
“Every player saw time on the court in the preseason classic,” said Adams. “They all are so motivated.”
On Monday, August 25, Milton will host the Crestview Bulldogs to start their 2014 regular season games. Varsity plays at 6 p.m.
Tuesday night, August 26, the Panthers will have their first away game of the season at Catholic High School.
Escambia High and Milton will match up Thursday night at 6 p.m. at home. “We have not seen Escambia or Pace play,” Adams said.
The Panthers are looking ahead to their place in 6A District 1 tournament action. “We are getting better every day on from here,” Adams added.
