Kiwanis hears Tom Scott speak about Maritime Trail

Tom Scott, left, with the President of Santa Rosa Sunrise Kiwanis Jack Culberson recently presented a most interesting talk to the Kiwanis members regarding the proposed Blackwater River Maritime Trail. Mr. Scott is an avid leader and advocate of this project which will inculcate the history and beauty of the Blackwater River into the hearts and minds of local residents and tourists alike. The project will include a self guided boat (canoe or kayak) tour of the Blackwater River along the Bagdad and Milton banks and will bring those who are adventurous a first hand visual of the beauty and historical significance of this proud and strong body of water. According to Mr. Scott, the project is slated to be ready for kickoff around the May, 2015 timeframe. Those readers interested in learning more can obtain information from the local Chamber of Commerce or the Milton Historical Society. Sunrise Kiwanis meets every Wednesday morning, 7 a.m., at Tanglewood Golf Club House, Milton. Breakfast will be served and guests are cordially invited to come and join us as we celebrate fellowship and look for new ways to serve the local community.
