It’s back to school time and thoughts of making healthy lunches came to mind. When my children were in public school I did my very best to make their lunches regularly because I didn’t trust them to make healthy choices at the school cafeteria or when on a field trip. I know I didn’t when I was a student. Chocolate milk and pizza with tater tots were my choice of cuisine at 15. Here are some pointers for parents who want to provide healthy lunches their children will eat but are unsure how to go about this.
Notes with jokes or reminders always bring about conversation with children and young adults. It may seem corny, but funny sayings I’ve written to my girls during their school days still come up in conversation. My silly, made up twelve days of Christmas notes I wrote for Katie brings a smile still.
Changing up the lunch box or bag ever so often also helps. I used brown paper sacks for high school but I still drew funny faces and designs to make them smile. Blessings for a happy school year.
