The Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association (CVMA) gave the Vets2VA program $5,000 Saturday. The Vets2VA program provides transportation to veterans who can’t make their own way to the VA hospital, serviced by Pensacola Bay Transit.
CVMA Chapter 20-3 Commander Terry Williams said the local chapter contributes money throughout the year by rides and runs, but the donation came from the national CVMA. Bill Pellerin, he said, known as “Redleg,” was responsible for the pitch at the convention in Gettysburg, PA, June 19.
Pellerin said his nickname is based on the red stripe down the old Army artillery uniform. He said some veterans came to the convention from as far as Alaska, but his speech on the need for veterans’ transportation for healthcare was enough to earn the donation.
