Dear Editor,
The letter in the July 12 paper about East Milton for the courthouse and said how dumb we are seems to be a classic example of how dumb we are. It notes the “bottleneck that is caused by U.S. highway 90 not being upgraded in Milton,” as detriment to the location in Milton, yet at the same time the writer calls for the Courthouse in East Milton. It seems to me the location in East Milton would create a far worse “bottleneck” hence defeating the argument put forth by the letter. What am I missing?
As far as his question “just how stupid do they think the tax payers are?” I don’t know the answer, but considering population distribution I submit a tax to build in East Milton is doomed to failure because I don’t think the tax payers are stupid. In fact, unless there is a specific location tied to the tax question, I think the tax approval will fail. I know I am not going to vote for a tax unless I know where it is going to be spent. Than, depending upon the location, I still may not vote for it. I don’t think I am alone with this position.
