June 24 through 29, Suzanne Terry and Wilma Scofield, members of the Three Rivers Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR), attended the 123rd Continental Congress in Washington, D.C.

Leaders from around the world meet at Constitution Hall, DAR National Headquarters to give their annual reports, honor outstanding recipients and plan for future projects. They attend business sessions, social functions and formal evening events.

The Conference has been held annually since the organization was founded 124 years ago. Founded in 1890, the National Society of the American Revolution was established to promote historic preservation, education and patriotism. Members are descendants of the patriots of the American Revolution.

The highlight of the Conference is the National Defense Night where veterans are honored with awards.

Among the guest speakers were Alexander Rose, author and historian, who spoke on “Washington’s Spies: The Story of America’s First Spy Ring;” Vice Admiral Michelle J. Howard, USN Deputy Chief of Naval Operations for Operations, Plans and Strategy; and General Norton A. Schwartz, USAF (Retired), former Chief of Staff of the Air Force.
