The Santa Rosa Sheriff’s Office arrested a Jay man Saturday for felony battery by strangulation and aggravated battery on a pregnant woman. Glen Dillon Phillips, 21, reports said was seen by witnesses hitting, punching and choking the victim and dragging her through the yard. Deputies report Phillips and the victim visited a creek together when an argument began. Reports said he was calling the victim names and began hitting her. Reports said once she broke free she ran across the road to a neighbor’s house for help. Deputies said Phillips followed her and caught up with her on the neighbor’s porch. Reports said Phillips grabbed her hair and choked her to the point she could not breathe. Deputies said one witness threatened Phillips with a machete to get him to stop attacking her.
Reports also said for the last three days Phillips had punched and hit the victim and deputies said the victim had bruises on her person which appeared to have occurred within the last couple of days.
Phillips told deputies the victim attacked him and hit him several times, although SRSO reported no visible injuries consistent with being hit or punched on Phillips. Deputies reported his right big toe was injured in the incident with the victim and was treated on scene.
Phillips was arrested and taken to Santa Rosa County Jail and was held without bail.
