The Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office reports arresting Shelby Evonne Diamond, 41, of Jay for felony battery of a person 65 years of age or older. According to reports, a deputy responded to a disturbence on Shell Road in Milton where he found a male subject and Diamond in the front yard. The male subject, reports said, told the deputy Diamond came to the victim's residence highly intoxicated knocking on the door. The male subject, according to reports, didn't allow Diamond access until the victim advised him to let her in the house. Once inside, the male said Diamond started yelling at the victim then pushed him into the wall and started punching his chest. The male said he then stepped between Diamond and the victim and called the sheriff's office, reports said. According to the report, the male said he and his girlfriend have been taking care of the victim since the victim's discharge from Sacred Heart Hospital.
Reports said the victim advised Diamond causing harm to him has been an ongoing issue. The victim said, according to reports, Diamond was upset because the male and his girlfriend were staying at the residence, but she never punched him, only pushed him using both her hands causing him to fall into a wall. The victim did press charges against Diamond, reports said.
According to the reports, Diamond said when she and the victim started arguing, the male got in the way, and as she may have bumped into the victim causing him to fall as she attempted to get around the male. Diamond said she was trying to get away from the male, according to the reports.
The male's girlfriend also gave a statement to the deputy, reports said, saying she woke up to a bunch of yellling in the living room of the residence and found Diamond shoving the victim repeatedly. She said when Diamond was asked to leave and didn't, the male called the sheriff's office, reports said.
Currently, according to the sheriff's office, Diamond was released Tuesday morning and is out on $5,000 bond.
