The City of Milton is excited to announce that Bands on the Blackwater has been extended for another five concerts and the band line up is completed.
After a very successful nine week season, Bands on the Blackwater will be extended from July 11 through August 8.
“We were pleasantly surprised by the number of people who have turned out this year,” said Milton Parks and Recreation Director John Norton. “Another amazing thing was the number of people who wanted us to extend the concerts after the Fourth of July.
“We listened and added five more concerts to the original nine we had scheduled.”
Once again a wide-variety is planned for the extended season.
Here are the bands scheduled to play in July and August:
July 11th- Category 4 – Category 4 is a versatile, talented band made up of seasoned, dedicated musicians who enjoy playing together and entertaining audiences of all ages and music preferences. Category 4 will be owning up to their band motto; "Live Music That Blows You Away!" From Classic & Southern Rock, Soul, Country to Top 40; Category 4 can perform your favorite music that you remember and grew up on, mixed in with the current music you listen to today.
July 18th- Gary Story’s Bad Habit – This group of talented musicians could become very habit forming. Bad Habit plays music from classic rock, southern rock, soul and much more. Enjoy a night out, but remember this music can become your next bad habit.
July 25th – Chris Martin Band – Chris Martin is an up and coming singer/songwriter/guitarist from the Emerald Coast of Florida. Chris Martin's roots in traditional country music, from George Strait to Keith Whitley, have helped shape his contemporary country music sound. Chris’ easy going manner is uniquely recognizable as “blue-eyed soul” meets “Nashville drawl” in his renditions of current country hits as well as original material.
Aug 1st-Modern Eldorados – Here is your chance to experience country and rock 'n' roll the way it used be with The Modern Eldorados. Music fans will hear sounds from George Jones, Patsy Cline and Elvis, as the band channels the nostalgia of the 1950s with a truly rockabilly flair.
Aug 8th-CrossTown Band – CrossTown is sure to make music lovers happy when they perform. The band specializes in "variety" music, a blend of a little bit of everything including classic rock, blues and everything in between.
The concerts will be held on the stage on South Willing St. from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Friday evening.
Individuals are urged to bring their lawn chairs or blankets and enjoy an evening of music along the Blackwater River.
“People can bring their coolers and lawn chairs to enjoy the concerts near the stage or set up on the Riverwalk overlooking the Blackwater River,” Norton said. “This year we have also seen a lot of boaters set up near the concert area along the Blackwater River to enjoy the music as well.
According to Norton, food and beverages will be available for purchase at the concerts and personal coolers are permitted as well.
