HT28 squadron "Hellions" enjoyed an early Fourth of July picnic Wednesday, according to Lieutenant Colonel Jeff Pavelko for their long weekend. Under the large pavillion near the end of Russell Harbor Landing, the 100 students, 45 instructors, and their families enjoyeyd traditional barbecue fare and watermelon. Taller than the pavillion, children of the squadron flew down an inflated slide brought to the park for the event. Pavelko said last year the squadron held their picnic at Russell Harbor Landing and the year before at Whiting Park. Most of the squad took advantage of the pavilion's cover keeping cool in early summer heat. A few others played a beanbag toss game, and a unique game called Spike Ball.
