In reading reports about the latest scandals plaguing the country, it is appalling government officials say they hope something changes. Shouldn’t elected officials be confident in their ability to change policy? Maybe they think present circumstances makes it seem impossible one congressional vote can change current conditions. Bureaucracy should never grow beyond the ability to control policy as veteran medical care wait times should never become a systemic problem. Our president should not receive information about what’s happening in the world from daily headlines. So, it is no surprise to us when a powerful political leader loses a race to an economics professor in light of government political division between parties. Perhaps Eric Cantor thought he was too big to fail by the fact he raised $22 to David Brat’s $1.
