A Milton man was arrested Sunday and charged with aggravated battery and obstructing justice for hitting his wife and taking her phone after she called 911 the week before. James R. Clingerman, 54, was in an argument with his wife on May 25th, Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office reports said and began ‘smashing’ things around the house. When his wife began to try to talk with him, she reported to deputies he hit her in the left eye, grabbed her wrist, and started throwing objects at her, with one item hitting her in the arm leaving a bruise. Reports said the wife told deputies he threw both furniture and items in the bedroom and took her phone after she called dispatch for help. Reports said Clingerman left the residence and didn’t know where he would go. He was released on $5,000 bond.
