Camp Fire offers nature camp

Looking for fun, coeducational, nature programs to stimulate your child’s interests this summer? Well, camp season is right around the corner and the summer of 2014 is the year that Camp Fire Gulf Wind, Inc. will have WILD & WISE Kids Day Camp available to kids in our area.

Camp Fire Gulf Wind, Inc. is currently accepting registrations for their 2014 summer program WILD & WISE Kids Day Camp. Camp Fire WILD & WISE Kids Day Camp is designed for children kindergarten through 12 years and begins June 2 and runs through August 15.  The cost of camp is $85 a week and includes breakfast, snack and lunch. After much research about childhood obesity and nature deficit disorder, Camp Fire developed a science-based curriculum for children ages 6 to 11 years, Camp Fire Wise Kids® programs.

Utilizing the science-based Camp Fire Wise Kids® programs, children will become the explorers and learn about nature and nutrition.  The programs deliver wellness messaging and practical, hands-on activities that get kids moving, learning about healthier living and exploring the outdoors to understand the way nature and the earth live in balance. The goal is to inspire kids to begin a lifelong journey of making wise nutrition and activity choices. The Wise Kids® curriculum focuses on the Energy Balance concept (Calories IN = Calories OUT) to help fight childhood obesity. This simple theme promotes a healthy, lifelong approach to staying in balance for good health.

Additionally, Camp Fire Gulf Wind, Inc. has partnered with Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission to reconnect children with nature and the outdoors through fun, educational, hands-on activities.  The goal is to engage children in outdoor activities where they will learn to love nature and be willing to accept stewardship of our precious outdoor heritage.

This summer join the fun at Camp Fire, as they build caring, confident youth and future leaders. For more details about Camp Fire Gulf wind, Inc. day camps or other programs and volunteer opportunities, visit www.campfirekidsfl.com or contact Pat Madison at 476-1760 x. 107.
