According to the Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office, Joshua Patton, a student from Navarre High School is under arrest for possessing a firearm while on school grounds. Reports said deputies obtained information Thursday regarding Patton having a firearm in his backpack. Deputies and school Administration found Patton in his physical education class. According to the reports, a .22 calibur firearm was found in the student's backpack in the cocked position. The deputy immediately secured it and arrested Patton, reports said. The deputy reported the investigation established there were no threats made to any students or staff and no one was being targeted for any reason. Additional deputies patrolled the school campus after the incident. According to the SRSO bringing a firearm to any school campus is a third degree felony.
