According to Ron Hixson, Environmental Supervisor, only two recycling centers are scheduled to close. Hixson said those are the centers at Five Points on Chumuckla Highway and the one in Tiger Point on Tiger Point Park Road scheduled to close March 14. The Stewart Street center is not closing, said Hixson, although it was discussed.
He said the current open locations are accessible on Santa Rosa County's website by mousing over the link "How Do I" and then clicking the link "Find Recycle Information." The page that pulls up is ww.santarosa.fl.gov/recycle. According to Santa Rosa County's website on recycling; items do not need to be separated. Acceptable items fall under paper, glass, metal, plastic containers, and cardboard. Non-recyclable items include light bulbs, Styrofoam, Mylar (chip and candy bags, and balloons), plastic grocery bags, diapers, and food waste. Labels and lids do not need to be removed but boxes should be flattened to save space.
